copper
Copper gets its name from the Latin word Cuprum, meaning from the island of Cyprus. In the Ancient Roman world, most copper was mined in Cyprus.
Copper and gold are the only metals which are not gray and silver.

iron
5 per cent of the Earth’s crust is iron.
Almost 90 per cent of manufactured metals are ferrous* metals.
*Ferrous means iron.

mithril
A precious, silvery metal, very lightweight but immensely strong, that was mined by the Dwarves in Khazad-dûm. Its light as a feather, and hard as dragon's scales.
